smol + The Week Junior competition: Terms & Conditions.

By entering this competition (the “Competition”), you (the “Participant”) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Any information or instructions published by the Promoter (as defined below) about the Competition form part of these terms and conditions.

 

The Promoter

The promoter of this Competition is smol Ltd (the “Promoter”) registered in England and Wales under company number 10626548 with registered office at The Portland Building, 27-28 Church Street, Brighton, East Sussex, United Kingdom, BN1 1RB.


The Partner

This Competition has been developed in partnership with The Week Junior (the “Partner”), part of Future Publishing Limited registered in England and Wales under company number 2008885 with registered office at Quay House, The Ambury, Bath, United Kingdom, BA1 1UA.

 

Eligibility

  • This Competition is open to all UK residents aged 8 or over.
  • Employees or agents of the Promoter, the Partner, their families or households, or anyone professionally connected to this Competition, are not eligible to enter.
  • No purchase is necessary to enter.



Prize (1x prize per winner)

  • Prize consists of:
  • 1x year-long subscription to The Week Junior Science & Nature magazine (total value £54.99)
  • 1x e-voucher to the Science Museum online gift shop (total value £50.00), sent to the winner via email.

Competition Period

  • The Competition runs and entries will be permitted from 20.06.26 at 12:01am to 30.09.26 at 11:59pm (the “Competition Period”).

 

Entry

  • To enter the Competition, Participants must do the following:
  1. Draw and/or describe your wildest future laundry invention on the competition page of smol print issue 08
  2. Scan the QR code on the smol print competition page to go to the competition website
  3. Complete all required details and upload an image of your drawing and/or description to the entry form on the competition website 
  • No postal entry equivalent to this Competition is available.
  • Multiple entries per person are not permitted.

 

Winner Selection

  • After the Competition Period, 1x winner will be chosen from all compliant entries.
  • Winner will be selected by the judging panel from the most imaginative, original ideas and the judging panel will be influenced by the strength of their entry.
  • The judging panel consists of 2 members of smol staff, 2 members of The Week Junior staff, and at least one independent judge. The decisions of the judging panel will be final and no correspondence or discussions will be entered into over the decisions of the judging panel or the winner selection. 
  • Winner will be notified on or before 09.10.26.
  • The Promoter will contact the winner via email to the email address provided with the entrant’s competition submission.
  • If the winner does not respond within 5 days of being contacted, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner.
  • All decisions taken by the Promoter are final and binding.

 

Privacy and Data Protection

  • The Promoter will share the winner’s name, email address, and competition submission with the Partner for the purposes of organising the prize delivery. Any personal details collected by the Partner will only be used to send the prize and not for any marketing purposes unless you have opted in to receive them.
  • Other than for the purposes of operating the Competition, Participant details will not be used for any promotional purpose nor passed to any third party.
  • By uploading files, the Participant agrees to the following:
  • The Participant owns the files they’ve uploaded or has permission to share them.
  • The Promoter will store the Participant’s files securely and only share them with authorized team members.
  • The Promoter may keep the Participant’s files for as long as needed for the Promoter’s business purposes.
  • The Participant can request the Promoter to delete the Participant’s files at any time by contacting them.
  • The Promoter collects the Participant’s IP address and browser information for security purposes only.
  • The Promoter is not responsible if technical issues prevent your upload from completing.

General

  • The Promoter shall not be liable for any interruption to this Competition whether due to force majeure or other factors beyond the Promoter’s control.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to vary the terms and conditions of this Competition at its discretion and in accordance with all relevant legislation and codes of practice.
  • The Promoter will not be responsible or liable for:

a) any failure to receive entries due to transmission failures;

b) any late entries;

c) any disruptions, losses, or damages caused by events beyond its control.

  • By entering the Competition, the Participant agrees to release the Promoter from any liability arising out of or in connection with the Competition or prize, except for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
  • The reward is non-transferable and cannot be resold or exchanged.

 

Governing Law

  • This Competition, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law.
  • Participants irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising from this Competition.
