what is hygiene poverty?

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene products most of us take for granted. Like the capsules to wash your clothes, soap to wash your dishes or toothpaste to brush your teeth.

More than 3 million people in the UK are thought to be experiencing hygiene poverty, yet it's often overlooked.

why is it important to us?

Having to wear dirty clothes or being unable to wash is humiliating and excluding. It harms physical and mental health, impacts childhood development and affects employability. That’s not ok.

Laundry products are some of the most requested yet forgotten items in UK food banks.

how do we help?

Since 2020 we’ve been proudly supporting the Hygiene Bank, a grassroots, people-powered charity and social movement. Products are donated, collected, sorted and distributed to local groups, charities and schools that work hard to support those of us pulled into poverty.
