A massive gathering of brands, thought-leaders, change-makers and all-round sustainability champs, swapping ideas on how to make the wily old world of business more of a force for good. So of course we went along.
Maddy and Zoey were the lucky smol team members and they headed into Manchester (recycled notebooks and refillable coffee cups in hand) for a day of inspiration, learning and caffeine. From tackling waste, to rethinking supply chains the summit was bursting with ideas on how brands can step up and do more. Brains were definitely all-a-buzz.
So, what were the biggest takeaways?
How about these wise words around carbon offsetting and sustainability from Hazel McGuire at Intrepid Travel: “Not letting perfection be the enemy of the good.” They really landed with us, because let’s face it, waiting around for the “perfect” solution can often result in doing nothing at all.
And a session by sustainable packaging pros, Priory Direct, gave us pause for thought. Most parcels travel in five different vehicles before they reach your home, so thinking about space (not just weight) is crucial as we try to minimise wasted space or “shipped air” as it’s known.
Finally, one smol takeaway really hit home. You don’t need to spend huge amounts of money as a brand to make a big difference to your teammates. Listening to people, celebrating small things and treating people with kindness all go a long way to making business better.
