B Corp Month cheat sheet:

  • March is B Corp Month.
  • A global celebration of businesses doing things differently.
  • B Corp isn’t just a sticker. It’s a third-party certification run by B Lab.
  • Companies are assessed on environment, workers, customers, community & governance.
  • Certification isn’t forever and businesses must recertify every 3 years.
  • The B Corp logo means a company has legally committed to balancing profit and purpose.

You’ve probably seen the logo on our packs. It’s that little circle with a B in the middle.

You’ll spot it on packaging, on websites and even sometimes in shop windows. Sitting there showing what better business looks like.

And every March, thousands of companies around the world pause and say: business can be a force for good.

Welcome to B Corp Month.

what does B Corp actually mean?

B Corp stands for Certified B Corporation.

It’s awarded by B Lab which is an independent non-profit that assesses companies against rigorous social and environmental standards.

To certify, businesses are measured across 5 key areas:

  • Environment (think: carbon emissions, waste, water, supply chain impact)
  • Workers (pay, wellbeing, inclusion, training)
  • Community (local impact, suppliers, diversity)
  • Customers (product responsibility, transparency)
  • Governance (accountability, long-term mission)

And it’s not a one-and-done certification. Companies must score at least 80 points out of approximately 200 and must also legally commit to considering people and planet alongside profit.

They then have to recertify every 3 years AND prove progress within that.

In other words, there’s no greenwashing here.

why does B Corp Month exist?

To celebrate how better business can make a difference!

Because what brands choose to prioritise (materials, supply chains, carbon, wages etc) has ripple effects that go on and on. B Corp Month is about:

  • Celebrating companies that are trying to do better
  • Raising awareness of what that little B logo means
  • Showing that profit and purpose can work together
  • Encouraging more businesses to raise their standards

And remembering that it’s most certainly NOT about perfection, but it IS about accountability and progress.

why becoming a B Corp mattered to us.

For us, this wasn’t about adding another logo to the website.

It was about:

  • External scrutiny to assess the good and the “room for improvement”
  • Giving us clear benchmarks
  • Transparent reporting
  • Making a commitment that to ourselves and the planetExternal scrutiny to assess the good and the “room for improvement”
  • Giving us clear benchmarks
  • Transparent reporting
  • Making a commitment that to ourselves and the planet

And it most certainly pushes us to keep improving. Not just on carbon, chemicals and plastic, but on governance, employee wellbeing and the impact we can have on the wider community too.

why B Corp matters to customers.

When you choose a B Corp, you’re choosing:

  • A company that’s been independently assessed
  • Transparent impact reporting
  • Legal accountability beyond shareholders
  • A business that has to keep raising the bar

Which all matters. Globally, there are now thousands of certified B Corps across more than 90 countries and over 150 industries. March is simply when we celebrate that loudly.
