Think of December!

A time for twinkling lights, cosy jumpers and spreading a little extra love. But have you heard of Giving December? It’s a special movement that reminds us all to give back during the holiday season.

With just a little pre-thought and organisation BEFORE the big day itself, you can really make Christmas special for somebody else this year. So, with that in mind, we’ve got an easy, smol way for you and your family to make a BIG difference for others.

a toy box of joy.

Your smol box has brought you planet-friendlier cleaning, but this December, it can also bring happiness to a child in need. Here’s how:

1. have a sort out.

Gather up all the outgrown toys in your home: dive into the toy chest and find any that still work and are in good condition -  but that your kids have now outgrown.

2. grab your box.

Fill up your empty smol box: the larger ones used in next day delivery and smol+plus deliveries are the ideal size for a donation. They’re also sturdy enough to hold larger items.

3. deliver delight.

Now you can take your box to a local charity shop, toy bank or community project that’s accepting toys. With one smol gesture, you’re making a huge difference to another child’s Christmas.

Giving December is all about turning what we already have and passing it along so the next person can get some joy from it. So while you’re making space for new memories at home, you’re also helping spread smiles to others.

want some other ways to give back this december?

Giving December doesn’t have to stop at toy donations!

Here are a few more smol ways to make a difference this season:

1. share our social post for FREE washes.

Just head to our social pages, find our Giving December post then like it and tag somebody. Easy!

Every like and share = 1 FREE wash to The Hygiene Bank.

So if you’re on Facebook and Instagram - that’s TWO FREE washes!

2. befriend an elderly neighbour.

For older people spending the winter alone, a friendly face can mean the world. Check in on a neighbour; you could even stock them up with smol essentials, and ask if they need help with housework or laundry.

3. support an animal rehoming centre.

Spread the warmth to our furry friends! Animal shelters are often in need of food, blankets, and toys, and might even welcome extra hands for dog walking in the colder months.

4. make a “reverse advent calendar”.

Instead of taking something out, add a non-perishable food item to a box each day until Christmas. Once full, take it to a food bank to make the season brighter for local families.

5. help out at a food bank.

These essentials become extra essential around the holidays. See if you can volunteer a few hours at your local food bank—or even organise a collection for the food bank amongst your friends and family. Donations are always welcome.

Giving December is all about small gestures that add up. Whether you’re filling a box with toys, lending a hand, or just sharing a smile, every little action counts. So let’s make this holiday season a smol one to remember—for everyone
