Ceramic floors look gorgeous and are super hard-wearing.
On top of that, they are (thankfully) pretty easy to keep clean. BUT if you want to keep them looking their absolute best (of course, you do), a little regular TLC goes a long way.
So let’s talk about ceramic floor cleaning. The easy way. The effective way. The smol way.
step 1. sweep & vacuum.
Ceramic tiles are naturally resistant to stains and water (BIG love for that), but dirt and dust?
They’ll still settle in regardless. So it’s good to get ahead of the game. Regular sweeping with a dustpan and brush or soft bristled broom and then vacuuming - will stop dirt from becoming part of the decor.
If you have the sort of ceramic tile that mimics wood (fancy), dry dusting with a mop will also keep those grooves looking fresh.
step 2. mop like you mean it.
For a deep hygienic clean you want something that will lift out dirt and grime whilst being safe for any crawling tots or furry 4-leggeds. Thankfully smol refillable floor cleaner has you covered.
Got a spray mop? Just fill up the tank with your smol floor cleaning solution and away you go.
Using a good old fashioned mop and bucket? Just squirt your smol floor cleaner straight onto the floor (easy-squeezy does it) and wipe with a damp mop.
Pssst… if you’re a Flash Powermop user… head here to find out how to refill their single-use bottles with smol and turn them into bottles-for-life. Saves you £££ AND saves the planet from single-use plastic. Lovely.
step 3. respect the grout.
Grout is the unsung hero of tile floors. But left unattended, it can turn a bit... grim.
Keep it sealed (twice a year is a good shout) to protect against stains. If it’s already looking a little worse for wear, mix up some bicarbonate of soda and water into a paste, grab a toothbrush and gently scrub away those stains. It's minimal effort for maximum satisfaction. Wipe down with a clean cloth and some water to finish.
step 4. wood-look tiles.
If your ceramic tiles are masquerading as a wooden floor they will need a little extra love. A dust mop will stop dirt from settling into the grooves after you have vacuumed. You can then mop with smol floor cleaner and dry with a microfibre cloth - no one wants streaks after all that effort.
N.B. remember to wash any microfibre cloths in a laundry bag that can catch the microplastics they shed into our waterways during the laundry cycle.
AND THAT’S IT.
No complicated steps. No unnecessary chemicals. Just simple, effective cleaning that keeps your ceramic floors looking as good as the day they were laid. Now go forth and mop like the floor-cleaning legend you were born to be.
