it's cool to be kind.

random acts of kindness day 2025.

14 Feb 2025

Surely the world could always use a little more warm-heartedness? Enter Random Acts of Kindness Day, your annual reminder to sprinkle a bit of joy wherever you go.

so, when is it?

It’s happening on February 17 2025 and it’s celebrated all across the world because kindness doesn’t care about borders! It’s just here for the good vibes and for us all to feel that little bit lighter and brighter.

Here’s everything you need to know about the day and more importantly, how to get involved. (Spoiler alert: it will involve kindness and cleaning).

what is random acts of kindness day?

It’s a day dedicated to small, selfless gestures that can transform somebody else’s day. Think unexpected compliments, surprise cups of coffee or helping your neighbour hang up their laundry. The goal? To spread positivity and remind people that the small (smol!) actions can have the biggest impact.

how to get involved:

1. kind cleaning.

Offer a cleaning hand, especially if you know someone who’s struggling to keep on top of their household chores. Lending a helping hand or tackling that one thing they hate doing (probably cleaning the oven) is a brilliant way to show some kindness.

Or how about washing windows? smol multi purpose spray works so well on glass and will leave their windows sparkling. It’s something that makes a difference to any room of the house and having that clear view to the outside world can really lift somebody’s mood.

2. hygiene kindness.

Why not spring a surprise laundry run for somebody? Especially if they’re a new parent or recovering from illness. Just pick up a laundry load and drop it back once it’s clean and fresh. Bonus points if you use the kindest, planet-friendly laundry capsules around (wink, wink).

Sharing your best kept cleaning secrets can also be an act of kindness. Like your secret hack for dealing with constant cupboard fingerprints (it’s a drop of our washing up liquid in some warm water). Get sharing it with friends or on your social media.

3. donate a wash with smol.

This one’s big. For smol customers, it’s ridiculously easy to be kind.

You can add donate a wash to your smol plan in just a few clicks. Once selected, it will confirm that 30p will add to whichever smol plan you link the scheme to. Each time your order is processed, you will be charged an extra 30p and 2 bio laundry capsules will be sent to The Hygiene Bank on your behalf.

Each donation helps those experiencing hygiene poverty, making laundry products accessible for families in need. Let’s not underestimate the power of fresh clothes, it’s more than hygiene; it’s dignity.

so why does this all matter?

Because kindness is contagious, and the ripple effect is real. That one small gesture? It might inspire someone else, who inspires another and suddenly, the world feels a little brighter. Plus, acts of kindness are good for your mental health (science agrees). Doing good can reduce stress, boost happiness and even make you feel more connected to your community.

a challenge.

So… this February 17, let’s aim for ONE random act of kindness.

Whether it’s cleaning-related or simply making someone smile, your effort counts. If you’re a smol customer, don’t forget to consider adding donate a wash to your plan. It’s kindness on autopilot, and every donation makes a tangible difference for people who need it most.

So go on, spread that joy. Be the reason someone believes in kindness again. The world will thank you (and so will your soul).
