Soap scum. Water spots. Glass shower doors can be a lot. But keeping them clean doesn't have to be.
Whether you're a team vinegar, homemade cleaning solution fan, or all about the power of smol foaming bathroom spray… we’ve got you. Here’s how to get your glass shower doors sparkling again and keep them that way.
But first…
…how often should you clean shower doors?
Ideally? Every day they are in use.
Realistically? We often don’t have the time for that. So once a week will do the trick (but if you can give them a quick wipe down after each shower your future self will thank you).
gleaming glass.
Here are 3 sure fire ways to a glittering result:
1. victory with vinegar.
- Combine equal parts vinegar and water and warm in the microwave for 30 seconds.
- Pour the solution into a clean spray bottle with a drop or two of washing up liquid (helps it cling to the glass).
- Starting from the top, spray the glass and let it sit for 5 - 10 minutes to do its thing.
- Wipe with a sponge. Then rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth to avoid streaks.
N.B. DO NOT use vinegar on natural stone showers. It could etch or discolour it.
2. leading with lemons.
- Mix equal parts lemon juice and water with a couple of drops of washing up liquid.
- Apply the solution to your shower glass and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Starting from the top, work your way down with a clean cloth.
- Rinse & dry for a sensational shine.
As with the vinegar method, using lemon juice on a natural stone shower is not recommended as it’s still an acid and could damage the stone.
3. smol foaming bathroom spray.
This one's obviously our fave! Not least because it’s refillable and saves you plastic.
- Pump the foaming spray directly onto your sponge or cloth.
- Spread the foam across the glass, covering every spot that needs a little love.
- Give it 5 minutes to work its magic. Then rinse with water.
- Buff dry with a microfiber towel for a streak-free finish.
And in more good news… your bathroom now smells of eucalyptus spa dreams.
what about the tracks?
Glass shower doors slide, and all that gunk slides with them. So remember to clean your tracks while you're at it.
You can use your vinegar or lemon solution or just your smol foaming bathroom spray with an old clean toothbrush to really get into any nooks or crannies. Finally rinse and dry for smooth, shiny tracks.
shower door saves.
If you can remember to wipe your shower glass down after every shower, you’ll really see a difference in the weekly build up. Maybe keep a spray bottle in the bathroom with your vinegar/lemon/smol mix for fast spritzes!
Happy cleaning!
