The hack Flash DOESN’T want you to know!

23 Jul 2026

Flash PowerMop Refill Cheat Sheet:

  • Flash PowerMop bottles are designed to be replaced, not refilled.
  • This hack will remove the cap so you can refill the bottle again and again.
  • Pair it with a refill, like smol Floor Cleaner, to cut down on single-use plastic.
  • Swap disposable PowerMop pads for reusable, washable alternatives.
  • You’ll save plastic, reduce waste and keep your floors sparkling.

Hands up who has a Flash Powermop?

It’s one of the most popular spray mops on the market here in the UK but it has a fatal flaw…

Throwaway bottles.

Flash have designed their spray mop so you can only use it with their uniquely-shaped plastic bottles. Fair enough, you might say, BUT these bottles have been purposely created for SINGLE USE. Once they’re empty, that’s it. Chuck them away and buy a new one.

That’s a BIG THUMBS DOWN to Procter & Gamble who have purposely put plastic before planet once again. How difficult would it be to create a refillable bottle to use again and again? Just like we do here at smol!

Flash would prefer we throw out these empty bottles without the chance to refill and reuse them and at £4* for each Flash single-use bottle, they’ve put profits before planet too.

So we’re sharing a clever HACK to REFILL your Flash Powermop bottle!

Hack your way to refillable bottles.

Step 1.

Remove your empty bottle from your mop and put the kettle on to boil! There’s no time for a cuppa just yet though… you’ll need the boiling water for step 2.

Step 2.

Stand your bottle top down in a bowl and carefully pour in your boiling water so the level comes just above the bottle cap but no higher. You want to heat up the cap but not the entire bottle.

Step 3.

Hold the bottle cap in the water for around 1 minute. Then remove the bottle from the water and use a towel to hold the bottle cap while you twist it off.

If at first you don’t succeed, try again! And leave the cap in the water a little longer this time. Eventually you should find the cap twists off!

Step 4.

Grab your smol refillable Floor Cleaner - at just £1.17 for each tiny refill tablet, some water from your tap will give you 500ml of fantastic floor cleaning solution. Refill your Flash bottle.

Step 5.

Screw the cap back on and insert your freshly refilled bottle into your Flash Powermop. You’re done! You’ve earned that cuppa now.

And as for the pads…

Yep! Once again a sustainable FAIL from Flash.

The Powermop is sold with throwaway disposable pads… one use only. That’s pretty poor.

Luckily, a quick search online will find washable, reusable pads that fit the Flash Powermop perfectly. No more single-use pads off to landfill.

So there you have it. Your planet-polluting mop becomes a sustainable saint!

And with your fabulous smol Floor Cleaner your floors will be streak-free, shining and smelling freshly of eucalyptus. Lovely!
