- Reusable bamboo lint rollers remove hair without disposable sticky sheets
- Adding half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle helps hair wash away more easily
- Reusable tools keep clothes fluff-free while reducing single-use plastic waste
Want to get rid of pet hair from your clothing without having yet another bit of moulded plastic in your house? (yes we’re looking at you, landfill-bound lint roller with your disposable sticky sheets!)
Of course, we love our pets. Their paws. Their snores. Their ability to sense the exact moment we put on black jeans before climbing onto our lap (ok, this one's not so bad if you have a black lab or a witch’s cat).
But what we don’t love? The fact we end up looking like a human fur ball.
Let’s shed that hair.
But don’t worry. We’ve got three easy (and reusable) ways to de-fuzz, plus one smol laundry tip that’ll help keep things fluff-free from the wash.

1. Damp rubber gloves.
It’s weirdly satisfying, trust us.
Pop on a pair of (clean!) rubber gloves (ours are real rubber - no plastic here) and run them under the tap. Once they’re slightly damp, simply sweep your hands over your clothes. The pet hair clings to the gloves just like your dog clings to you for the 30 minutes before dinner time.
Rinse and repeat as needed.
This trick works especially well on heavier fabrics like denim, wool, or those cosy fleece jumpers pets can’t resist.
2. Damp microfibre cloth.
No gloves? Grab a damp microfibre cloth instead.
It’s the same idea so just swipe it across your clothes and let the static magic happen. Hair should ball up and lift away, and your outfit will thank you for the freshen-up.
Bonus: it’s reusable and washable. BUT remember, microfibre cloths DO contain plastic (unlike our cloths made from plants). So when you’re washing your microfibres, pop them in a Guppyfriend laundry bag (or similar) and catch those microplastics before they head out to sea.
3. Bamboo lint roller.
OK yes, it’s still technically a lint roller, but NOT like the wasteful plastic ones.
Bamboo lint rollers use a reusable, rubbery surface or washable adhesive sheets that trap pet hair without all the single-use stickiness. Keep one by the door for quick touch-ups on your way out.
(And let’s be honest, they also look more stylish on your shelf).
One step ahead.
Bonus hack coming right up dear reader in the form of white vinegar…
Yep!
Add it to your wash and it will help loosen the static bond between hair and your clothes so it’s easier for your machine to rinse it all away.
- Add half a cup of white vinegar to the fabric conditioner drawer section of your washing machine. It’ll go in during the rinse cycle, when it can do its static-busting magic.
No, your clothes won’t smell like vinegar (promise). Yes, your laundry will come out fresher, softer, and far less hairy.
And a final word…
Pet hair may be part of life, but it doesn’t have to be part of your wardrobe.
From rubber gloves to rinse cycles, a few smol tips can go a long way.
Now go give your fluffball a cuddle. Just not in your black jeans.
