Autumn’s here. Which means school uniforms are back in circulation, floors will be seeing a lot more muddy shoes and suddenly “I need it tomorrow” is a reasonable thing to announce at 8:47pm.
So in this smol talk we’re embracing real life in all its slightly chaotic glory.
We’ve got a seriously clever new bottle, an emergency school-night laundry trick, a cleaning myth that might change the way you mop AND a rather lovely reason to reset your surfaces.
Let’s get into it.
Take a look down the supermarket cleaning aisle and you’ll see a huge array of plastic bottles.
It’s just how things are done.
Except we’ve never been that interested in doing things just because everyone else does.
Our Laundry Capsules have come in cardboard packs for years (we were the first). And when we launched Laundry Liquid, we created a refillable bottle-for-life, topped up via concentrated carton refills that cut the need for bottle after bottle of single-use plastic.
But that doesn’t mean we’re done.
We want to keep questioning “the norm” and generally raise the bar for the rest of our industry.
So we’ve been working with packaging innovators on something new: a bottle made using renewable cellulose fibres from sustainably managed forests.
In other words… pretty much a paper bottle! But one that doesn’t leak!
It even goes in your paper and card recycling bin.
Safe to say we’re beyond excited and we hope our lovely customers will be too. It’s another way the smol revolution is taking on an industry that still relies heavily on single-use plastic.
It’s exactly the kind of change we love.

The 9PM School Uniform Panic.
It’s 8:47pm. Someone needs their school jumper tomorrow. And it’s currently covered in something suspicious.
We’ve all been there. Time is of the essence.
You don’t have enough dirty laundry for a full load (you know full loads are the better choice because they use less water and energy) …
BUT… life happens. And occasionally, you need one or two things to be clean an hour ago.
That’s when a quick 15-minute “refresher wash” earns its keep.
Our concentrated Laundry Liquid has been independently tested on a 15-minute wash at 30°C against Persil Wonder Wash and luckily it not only delivers brilliant cleaning but it outperforms Persil on whiteness and grass stain removal.
So for those school-uniform emergencies, a quick wash can be a very useful Plan B.
And to speed up the dry?
Run an extra spin cycle first. The less water left in the clothes, the quicker the drying.
Then when it’s out of the machine, lay the damp item flat on a clean, dry towel, and roll the towel up tightly with the clothing inside (like a laundry swiss roll!), then press/squeeze firmly. The towel absorbs a surprising amount of moisture. Unroll and hang immediately. Should be dry by morning.
Full load when you can. Quick wash when you must.
We might think that for a really clean floor we need really hot water. It’s one of those cleaning habits that just feels right.
But when it comes to floors, hotter doesn’t necessarily mean cleaner.
Very hot water can be tough on some flooring. Wood, laminate and certain vinyl floors can be sensitive to excess heat and moisture, so you could be potentially affecting finishes, any glue that’s been used to stick the flooring down, or the floor itself over time.
And while warm water can certainly help shift dirt, it’s the cleaning formula doing the clever bit … and by that, we mean breaking down grease and grime so your mop can lift it away.
Which means there’s no need to fill a bucket with steaming water every time you clean.
